June 8, 2018 – EWMC of Southeastern MI – The next monthly meeting for the chapter will be on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 5:30 pm at Local 252 in Ann Arbor.

Our next scheduled day to help out with the Wobbly Kitchen at Cass Park is on Sunday, June 24, 2018. We will be preparing ribs in honor of the 4th of July holiday. Thanks to those who came out on May 27, 2018. Meet at Local 58 starting at 8:00amto help make sandwiches to pass out. Breakfast will be served to all those who volunteer.

There will not be another Movement at They Say get together until further notice. Please keep giving your input for suggestions for topics or speakers at the meetings.

Local 58 members look for your ballots in the mail and participate in your local's election of officers.

It is truly a busy time and there are plenty of opportunities to be involved in union and community activities through the IBEW. It's YOUR union, get INVOLVED.

 

June 22, 2018– EWMC of Southeastern MI – Thank you to all who came out to our meeting at Local 252 in Ann Arbor. They were very gracious hosts and we appreciate the brotherhood.

Thank you to all who came out and participated in the Michigan Construction Career Fair at the Michigan Science Center. The students truly benefited from all of the hands on experiences and the exposure to all of the different skilled trades opportunities that are available to them.

We would like to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our business managers for sending us to the IBEW Women's Conference to represent our respective locals. The information that was shared and the relationships that were built will last for many years and will continue to improve the IBEW.

We will be assisting at the AFL-CIO/United Way Meet Up Eat Up block party on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Patton Recreation Center in Detroit. The event runs from 2 to 6pm. We will have a table at the Resource Fair and we will be helping out with the Gleaners donations. All are welcome to participate. Please wear your IBEW gear.

July 20, 2018 – EWMC of Southeastern MI – The next monthly meeting for the chapter will be on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 5:30 pm. Location to be determined.

Thanks to all those who helped out with the Wobbly Kitchen at Cass Park on Sunday, July 22, 2018. It was truly appreciated by all who came out to the park. For next month, we are looking into the possibility of distributing ice cream and/or popsicles so we can use some extra hands. Meet at Local 58 starting at 8:00amto help make sandwiches to pass out. Breakfast will be served to all those who volunteer.

EWMC will be helping out with the kids games at the Local 58 family picnic on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Volunteers will be provided with a T-shirt for helping out. Also, we will be raffling off various IBEW T-shirts and will need ticket sellers. Please step up, give some time, and help out so that all will have time to enjoy the picnic with their family.

Thanks to all of those who made it out to the AFL-CIO/United Way Meet Up Eat Up block party on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Patton Recreation Center in Detroit. Along with our brothers from UWA and DTE we helped out with sorting and distributing the Gleaners donations. The community got to enjoy food, prizes, music, entertainment, and a wealth of resources. A good time was had by all.

August 17, 2018– EWMC of Southeastern MI – The next monthly meeting for the chapter will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 5:30 pm. Thanks to everyone who made it out to Cass Park on August 12th. The ice cream was a big hit. Our next Wobbly Kitchen at Cass Park will be on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Meet at Local 58 starting at 8:00amto help make sandwiches to pass out. Breakfast will be served to all those who volunteer.

Congratulations to Aron Brill our 50/50 raffle winner from last months membership meeting. He donated his winnings and all of the money raised was donated to our brothers affected by Legionnaires disease while on the job. Thank you to all those who volunteered at the Local 58 family picnic on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Thank you to all of those who helped out with our GOTV efforts leading up to the August primary. Our work is not done yet. As the November elections approach more help will be needed.

Remember, elections have consequences so make sure your voice is heard and your vote is counted.

EWMC will be walking and helping out at the Labor Day march on Monday, September 3rd. Meet at the hall starting at 7am. The Local 58 Benevolent Fund Annual Poker Run will take place on Saturday, September 8th and EWMC will be manning a stop along the route.

As we ready for the January 2019 National Education Conference in Houston, anyone interested in being a delegate should submit their name for consideration.

August 31, 2018 – EWMC of Southeastern MI – The next monthly meeting for the chapter will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 5:30 pm. Thanks to everyone who made it out to Cass Park on August 26th. Congratulations to Kim Fountane, Hope Novo and Chris Reschke, the winners of our IBEW t-shirt raffle at the 58 monthly membership meeting. There is always something happening at the monthly membership meeting and whether it's a give-away, raffle, spirited discussion, or chance to support a fellow union brother/sister, sometimes you just have to be there to experience it.

Thank you to all who traveled to East Lansing to attend the Michigan Democratic Party state nominating convention on behalf of Local 58. As November approaches there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in the GOTV efforts of the IBEW and the AFL-CIO. Our work is not done yet. Remember, elections have consequences so make sure your voice is heard and your vote is counted.

The Annual Labor Day March through downtown Detroit was held on Monday, September 3rd. Thank you to all who came out and volunteered and to those who came out to support labor. The Local 58 Benevolent Fund Annual Poker Run will take place on Saturday, September 8thstarting at 12pm and EWMC will be manning a stop along the route. Volunteers are needed to help out.

As we ready for the January 2019 National Education Conference in Houston, anyone interested in being a delegate should submit their name for consideration.

The Southeastern Michigan Chapter will be supporting the Second Annual Conservation Dinner on Friday, September 27, 2018. The wild game dinner will be held at Local 58.

IBEW will once again have a station at the Detroit Zoo for Zoo Boo. This merry not scary outing is always a fun time for both the children and for us. Anyone interested should call the hall. EWMC will be looking to secure a date for us.
