Congratulations are in order! Local 26 member Jamell Thrower has been appointed to fill the recently vacated At- Large position on the Executive Board. Jamell A. Thrower is a veteran who served our country in the United States Marine Corp. He began working as an electrician in 1995 and was initiated into IBEW Local #26 in 1997. Jamell graduated as valedictorian for the IBEW/NECA JATC Local 26 class of 2000. Upon graduation, he achieved NICET Fire Alarm certification and served as an Instructor for the JATC for seven years.
In 2001, Jamell joined the Local 26 EWMC Chapter. In 2003 he became the Recording Secretary of the chapter and served in this position until he was elected Vice-President in 2018.
Jamell is an active member of his Local Union and his community. He served as a Labor Representative in the District of Columbia Apprenticeship Council for seven years and regularly volunteered in the community and assisted with political activities. His dedication and activism earned him the District of Columbia COPE Award from the Washington Metropolitan Council for Political Action.
In recent years, Jamell has served on the District of Columbia Apprenticeship Office as a Mayoral appointee. He currently works as a supervisor for Fire Alarm Systems for Heller Electric and is blessed to be married to an incredibly supportive wife and the father of six wonderful children.
